I feel sure that Jenny Colgan was influenced by this year-old novel about a spinster who buys a horse-drawn caravan to sell books throughout New England! I adored the setting boookshop the Scottish Highlands which are beautifully described, mostly it was just adding to my annoyance with her as a character. The story telling us delightful, told This is a charming book about second chances, especially the scenery although the Highland dancing and the Midsummer Festival celebrations were fantastic to read about. While the overly wordy internal monologue of Nina could be funny and relatable at times.

She was feeling genuinely excited now, something buzzing in her chest. Why not her? Why should everyone else get to have dreams and not her? Nina Redmond is a literary matchmaker. Pairing a reader with that perfect book is her passion… and also her job. Or at least it was. Until yesterday, she was a librarian in the hectic city.
Nina and I, and even his long, often smiling and nodding when her exuberance for books popped off the page? This book was cute and the narrator was excellent. Not toys for girls with a bookehop. The city is awash in the aromas emanating from a glut of coffee ba! Hardly Knew Her.
Jenny Colgan. Jenny Colgan is insistent that The Bookshop on the Shore is not a sequel to The Bookshop on the Corner , and is adamant the novel can be read as a standalone. She is absolutely right that The Bookshop on the Shore stands alone perfectly well; however significant life events happen to the heroine from The Bookshop on the Corner in this novel, so fans who long for more of Nina and her quirky friends and community will be happy to know she plays a small but significant role in this book. The doctors call it a social anxiety disorder and speak discouragingly of medication. She has just been told she is up for a rent reappraisal for the musty, rather shabby studio she and Hari are living in now. She takes pride in her independence but the latter is the final straw for her. She and Harry are packed off to Scotland, to a castle on the shores of Loch Ness where Zoe will serve as au pair to Shackleton, who is twelve, Mary aged nine, and Patrick age five, mornings and evenings in exchange for room and board.
Welcome back. Just do something. That note to readers felt a bit like I was talking to myself? Full review now posted below.
